How do grease traps work?
Water enters the trap from sinks, dishwashers, etc. and the grease, fats and oils are separated by the restricted water flow. Most traps are generally built to have the water flow through the middle of the trap while the grease, fats and oils float or sink and stay inside the trap. This helps prevent future problems and back ups in the drain line.
How often should a grease trap be cleaned?
Every trap is a little different depending on water/drain usage from the building. The frequency of cleaning can range from every 3 months to once a year.
Do you install grease traps or just clean them?
